Women before us, they joined the chorus
Of loud voices championing for those who adore us.
They’ve fought the good fight, they’ve shed the right light
On the issues we strive to keep alive, they burn bright.
Lighting the fire for equality, can only be real if it’s truly free.
This freedom given to you and me, shows nothing’s free from what I can see.
Equality always comes at a cost, those who shed their blood and lost.
The hopes and dreams of those become tossed

For the mothers who died giving birth, for the ones crossing our sacred earth.
Will we ever stop to recognize their impact and their worth?
On the path to make for a better life, met with much heartache and also strife,
Taking chances to defend what we know to be right.
Protecting our bodies, our choices, our babies.
In a world that questions us with What If’s and Maybes.
The brown, the white, the yellow, and red,
All of us familiar with these things that are said.
The feelings and thoughts we have in our head,
Cast shadows on us causing dissension and dread.
But we are women who fight and unite!
We will stay strong as we have all along!
We’ll continue to fight the patriarch.
We’ll continue to march and make our mark...
INTO THE STORM
